Up until a couple of days ago, everything was honky-dory. Earlier today, I went through a few firmware updates using the firmware-updater GUI and rebooted when asked. I am not sure whether what is happening is tied to that.
I'm on Ubuntu 24.04.
When I launch a terminal, I can see all my files. However, when I open Nautilus, all I see is a snap folder.
Any other link on the left panel, i.e., Downloads, Documents, Music, etc., shows an "Oops, something went wrong" message, while displaying the correct path underneath it. That path is accessible and owned by my user throughout, as I can see from the terminal.
I used to be a Unix/Linux sysadmin back in the day, but later switched to infosec and retired a few years ago. I can still find my way around Bash, but this GUI crap is all nonsense to me. How do I fix this?
